Monica Brokenborough is the firm’s newest addition to its labor and employment practice. She has extensive experience as a teacher union representative. While serving in the capacity of a union leader, Ms. Brokenborough won numerous grievances which resulted in backpay awards, job reinstatements, and expungement of adverse records. Additionally, she became a nominee for president of the Washington Teachers’ Union. Ms. Brokenborough is also a FINRA arbitrator. She graduated law school one and a half years early. Ms. Brokenborough earned her J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. During law school, she served as a member of the Moot Court Board and received the Litigation and Advocacy Award. She was also awarded the prestigious Peggy Browning Fellowship. Ms. Brokenborough received the CALI award for achievement for her work in the Thurgood Marshall Seminar instructed by Professor Larry S. Gibson. She is a native of Atlanta, GA, and the proud daughter of a former union steward.
